Thanks. It’s always interesting to see what others are using. I’m currently updating my gear. I think I’m done…then there’s one more thing! πŸ˜‰

  4. Paul Rodrigues on August 27, 2019 at 1:51 pm

Can’t you make a charge port at the battery boxes on the front of MiniTini to charge the GoPro?

  5. Oliver JH on August 27, 2019 at 1:52 pm

Thanks Robert that was very interesting πŸ‘

Hi Robert. U have awesome gadgets. Thanks for sharing. U know wat ur doing how to film it and capture good images when u travel. Keep it up and looking forward of your videos." I AM RIDING , RIDING ON MY RV"πŸš™πŸ“½

  8. Soladaddy on August 27, 2019 at 1:54 pm

When I found your channel last year there were three things that caught my attention: Your voice, your music was much better than the typical RV vlog (think most use some cheesy canned YouTube stuff that really annoys me) and your video presentation. The videos are primarily about the places you visit and the journey to get there and I like that. You take those elements and wrap them into a quality video that can be long but once immersed in the story, do not seem long at all. If I ever get a channel started your channel is the benchmark (although my signing is terrible). Great job.

  9. Geezer at the Wheel on August 27, 2019 at 1:57 pm

I have also chosen a camcorder as my workhorse. What’s reassuring is that I made that decision for basically the same reasons as you. I especially agree with the stealth of a camcorder. Some of those DSLR setups look like a dead racoon on a stick and can’t help but draw attention. Your vids are my benchmark for my own (it doesn’t hurt to aim high) and now I have just a little more insight into your "genius". Thank you for sharing.

The first three devices you use are great instincts, sincere passion, and integrity.

Thank you Robert! I have wondered for a long time about the dash cam left side soft focus, the Sony FDR X3000 does seem like a great dashcam (and for what other kind of footage you would like to get). I am very impressed with the Sony FDR AX53! The footage you have been able to get with that is quite stunning, and amazing on how far you can zoom in and it keeping the picture stable (cool seeing that inner gimbal in the lense)! And your drone, very cool, love the footage you get from that! Congratulations on getting your FAA part 107, it is quite the accomplishment, especially with all the information you have to learn. Kudos on your amazing travel videos and commentaries, appreciate when you’ve shown the view form the Cross in California and the one in Texas, too! Like seeing when your able to have your wife along, too. Thanks again for all you do for encouraging RVs and traveling in general!!!

Hey Robert, Great video. I am enjoying it very much.

About the gopro 7 audio. I use it for the majority of th spoken part on many of our videos with good success with the audio. I drilled the the side go the housing to make the microphone hole bigger and that improved the audio significantly, the audio is also decent if you use it without the housing.

    I hope you are well!

Ulanzi make a great product to add Mic to Hero 7. This is the setup I have:

  19. Bruce Moore on August 27, 2019 at 2:09 pm

Thanks Robert !!! I really enjoyed this segment and the expertise you shared with us !! Your videos are always so smooth when you’re walking, and I now I understand why. You STRIVE for the best quality and content, and it shows, more that any other RV postings on YouTube !! The modern technology is amazing, and I love the audio quality of that microphone set-up – sometimes older is better !! That "counter" you installed from IKEA (was it?) really worked out great – you obviously need the room !!!
I do enjoy all your video productions… and I thank you. I would love to watch another video on that amazing Mavic Pro, with all the details, tips, and tricks !!! Thanks again from an avid fan !! Any chance you are going to the Hershey show next month?

I usually watch your videos on our TV via Roku/YouTube, so I am unable to comment or read comments. I happened to be on my computer when watching this video so I wanted to comments that my wife and I totally enjoy your videos. Your production values, your shooting techniques, your editing and your destinations – all make for quality entertainment! We also have your CDs and enjoy listening in the car as we take your music "on the road". Thanks.

  24. The Critter and The Butterfly on August 27, 2019 at 2:14 pm

Thanks for posting. I’m always interested in seeing what other creators use for equipment and more so for software. The attention to detail always shows in the production. Your videos are always well done and entertaining. We are just starting out so not much in the equipment bag. We are having fun sharing our adventures so onward and upward. Enjoy what you do, and safe travels.

This was quite an informative video, Robert. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.

  28. Joe D on August 27, 2019 at 2:16 pm

Great video. Seem like a ton of behind the scenes work! Do you often get push back from people when they see you recording? Or do they want to be in your videos?

  29. Red Ted's Travels on August 27, 2019 at 2:19 pm

Very good sir! I look to your videos as a standard to try to achieve for my videos! I have always admired your voice overs the best because I think that you have an absolutely fantastic and soothing voice!

  30. Crurned Travels and Other Stories on August 27, 2019 at 2:19 pm

That Sony camera looks like a good replacement for my canon hf r700. It does this annoying rattling sound. I usually record videos without music or narration with the raw audio and the rattling sound is always present. I will see if the camera is on deal next Cyber Monday.

  31. R McNasty on August 27, 2019 at 2:20 pm

    Hello Robert

  33. Ellen Wilson on August 27, 2019 at 2:20 pm

Absolutely loved this video, even though I didn’t necessarily understand a lot of it, it was nice to see how you go about gathering and producing all of the wonderful videos you share with us.

  34. Mario Soberal on August 27, 2019 at 2:20 pm

wonder if you can give a tutorial about how safely attach a roof camera. because using only the two side adhesive tape I lost one camera once. I’m afraid of use bolts because of leaks.

  35. Marla Harmon on August 27, 2019 at 2:23 pm

I just returned my GoPro7 two weeks ago because of the audio. The GoPro proprietary adapter has been backordered since April and the company has not issued a statement about the backorder. I called and the rep did t know anything. No one has them unless you can find one that is going for 3x the price at $150. I’m not paying that price for a marked up adapter that someone has probably used. Very disappointed in GoPro over the way they have handled this but I’m glad I was in my return period when I found out.

  36. William Combs on August 27, 2019 at 2:23 pm

    I LIKE your traveling videos

  37. Anonymous ME on August 27, 2019 at 2:23 pm

I highly recommend you get the Sony RX100 mark 7 with a mic input, it’s the best pocket camera, a monster. You can get rid of all those you have now.

  38. Cliff Shomette on August 27, 2019 at 2:25 pm

I guess I missed it. Which video editing software do you use for PC?

  39. Cecil Treadwell on August 27, 2019 at 2:26 pm

The battery on that camera is better than the one in your RV.

  40. Leslie Robinson on August 27, 2019 at 2:28 pm

Fascinating insight Robert. Now I know why your vids are so good. You put a lot of time into your work and it shows. I appreciate the end product. You are my favorite videographer.

  41. Iggy Konrad on August 27, 2019 at 2:33 pm

Have you checked out the DJI Osmo Pocket? Great 4K with a gimbal in a very small package. It can be connected to a cell phone for a larger screen. All around excellent vlogging camera.

  42. frank 4434 on August 27, 2019 at 2:35 pm

LOL….Robert it’s kinda funny, I been thinking about asking you if you ever considered putting a gopro hero7 black on top of your trailer for better image quality….I click on this video today after I haven’t been on YouTube in over 4 weeks & I see you say " I’m retiring this camera today & replacing it with the gopro hero7 black "…….I have one & yes just like you said they are no good in lowlight but I’m with you, i dont use my gopro in lowlight anyway……if you go to my page you will see on some of my Sonoma raceway videos i say 4k@60fps if you see that then i used the gopro hero7 black…..same deal with my Alcatraz videos,if you see 4k@60fps that means i used my gopro hero7 black…..they work simply outstanding in good light.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ anyhow Robert I only had my Sony AX53 for like 6 months but when I upgrade it will probably be to the Canon GX10 it records 4k@60fps & has a large 1 inch sensor….check it out when you get time.

  43. Drama Queen on August 27, 2019 at 2:36 pm

Great video, thanks! I have all 3 of your video cameras, like you I prefer the old fashion camcorder. I love the AX53 for the same reasons that you do, also have the same dislikes. You don’t seem to have any problems with keeping your camera steady while walking, I’m not there yet, because my videos while walking with that particular camera are very shaky. With the GoPro you may have a defective one, saying that because I have the Hero 7 Black and mine never crashes and I use the extra power bar all the time. I was wondering how you attach yours onto the roof of Mini Tennie (Spelling?) and now I know. Anyway, I’m super happy that you did this video, it was very helpful and interesting. thank you again.

  44. Panotaker on August 27, 2019 at 2:37 pm

Get the Rode Wireless Go microphone and you can record the audio on the camera instead of syncing it. Put a Sony RX0 on top of your camper. It never crashes, and you can run it on external power, or just get another X3000 and put it up there. The audio on the GoPro sucks because it has a membrane in front of the mic to make it waterproof. Ulanzi makes a case for the GoPro that holds the camera and the mic adapter on the bottom of it, and has a cold shoe on top, and a tripod socket on the bottom, so you can use that with the Rode wireless Go, and you will have a nice portable GoPro setup with excellent audio.

  45. RV Monster on August 27, 2019 at 2:38 pm

I β€˜m curious. How long does it take to edit a typical video. As an example , 10 min video take 1 hour, 2 hour, 3 hour, etc…..I must be really slow but the editing takes me many hours for a 15 min video. Thanks, Dan

  46. Tim Lucas on August 27, 2019 at 2:38 pm

Image was WAY better when you switched to the Sony!

  47. Papa Rowe on August 27, 2019 at 2:40 pm

Hi Robert, I have a hero7 and never replace the battery during my night shots. All I do is remove the battery and hook up an external power pack. The downside is you have to remove the cover over the gopro power plug, but i cover that up if I am worried about moisture. Works great, runs all night taking my nightlapse shots. We enjoy your videos!

  48. LaurieJ on August 27, 2019 at 2:41 pm
