The Ultimate Retro Gaming Console in 2019 | NVIDIA Shield TV

After years of searching, I’ve found an incredible way to play classic games on HD and 4K displays. The NVIDIA Shield TV may not be the newest device on the market, but the emulation community has turned the Shield into one of the best emulator and retro gaming systems you can buy today.

If you’d like to learn more about the Shield TV and setting one up for emulation check out these videos:

Anyone know where I can get a laptop powerful enough to emulate PS3 games smoothly or at least Gamecube, PS2 or Wii?

I wonder if we’ll ever see a shield 2. Will they wait until switch 2 comes out?

I’m legitimately sold on this system but it won’t sell to my location because of special care which is always annoying…

  12. Kim1987sc on September 25, 2019 at 9:44 pm

I think im going to get one of these. Any tips for first timers?

  13. The Elite Gamer on September 25, 2019 at 9:47 pm

are there games on it or do you need to download all those roms? many sites have been taken down, so i only prefer a console with many games on it instead of wasting time on looking for roms.

  14. Draytons Games on September 25, 2019 at 9:47 pm

So if I don’t have a PC I can use this and get steam to play directly on this?

  15. Asha阿善蒂 on September 25, 2019 at 9:48 pm

You sun of a beach, I just don’t have enough words to describe how I love you for making this video! It was like a mind blowing for me, I mean, I was searching for an actual video that could provide useful information on this device, and your video was like…. every time a question came to my mind it was like you was hearing me asking it and you answered it immediately. Because of you now I know that this console is the missing link they’ve been developing in Africa: a weapon to surpass Metal Gear. 😀

  20. Ralph Dalessandro on September 25, 2019 at 9:54 pm

    Does it play ps2 games

  21. Felipe Hernández L. on September 25, 2019 at 9:54 pm

A friend started to recommend me the Shield TV since the latest update of the Pi4 shows little hope to 2000-era consoles, while the NSTV plays them at full 60 FPS!!

I think it is worth to pay a bit more for it, Saturn and DC emulation are exactly what I’m going for!

"Not every game will run perfectly" – This is the main reason why I will continue to use real hardware to play my games. Don’t get me wrong, I like and use emulators for their ease of use, but I always seem to run into issues with emulators. Just when I seem to have an emulator sorted out and working amazingly, some game throws a wrench in it. A part of that is I enjoy playing games that are not considered classics. You will not have much problem playing Super Mario Sunshine or Twilight Princess, but you will have issues playing something like ‘James Bond 007 – Everything or Nothing’, a classic to me, but not for everyone. Nevertheless, the Shield is a great device for this and would probably suit those who just want to play the classics.

  23. Probably Playing Classic Games on September 25, 2019 at 9:55 pm

Nvidia shield TV is great and I still want one. But you can get a Alienware steam machine with a i5 or i7 500 or 1tb that came out in 2015 for about the same price as a Nvidia shield TV and you can play emulators up to Wii u and 3ds flawlessly. And launch up lauchbox so it will boot to that right when you turn it on and now you can have the ultimate emulation machine.

  24. Martell Hixson on September 25, 2019 at 9:55 pm

Can it be used with a tablet or is the TV needed?

  25. Kurogane Ti_Ignition on September 25, 2019 at 9:55 pm

But, I thought the ultimate gaming console, is Soulja game system

  26. A Light on September 25, 2019 at 9:59 pm

Does the OS slows down like most Android devices?

  27. Draytons Games on September 25, 2019 at 9:59 pm

I’m curious about what games come with Nvidia shield gaming edition free?
    Like just out of box.
Without connecting to steam or anything.
Is there a way to play Final Fantasy X on this?

  28. Omar Ach on September 25, 2019 at 9:59 pm

    Eso es una porquería.no mientas

  29. Suhadisgood on September 25, 2019 at 10:00 pm

These old games needed memory cards to save it’s not like the PS3 Xbox 360 PS4 Xbox one where it saves in the cloud online storage enjoy starting all over every time you restart the games that’s no fun to me or anyone that’s how the arcade made so much money people had too throw a lot of quarters to beat the games back in the days some games cost $10.00 to beat such as teenage mutant ninja turtles

  30. LMG3D 3D Printing Enthusiast on September 25, 2019 at 10:01 pm

Why not just get a PS1 Classic for 30 bucks and install autobleem or bleemsync, it can run all emulators up to the PS1 and smoewhat better.

  31. Ryan Wallace on September 25, 2019 at 10:02 pm

  33. Landon Macha on September 25, 2019 at 10:08 pm

How did you get your dolphin emulator games to show up on the home screen?

  34. Richard Waters on September 25, 2019 at 10:09 pm

Its a shame they are still selling for $249-349 here in Australia, and for that you could get an i5 or an i7 with a decent Nvidia card and play everything from any machine. But thanks so much for this video.

  35. NIKMOE on September 25, 2019 at 10:10 pm

So this video was intended to be a review of the Shield TV as an all in one emulator console. If you guys are looking for a step by step how to video please check out the description above for links from other creators like ETA Prime. (highly recommended).

  36. matuzaato on September 25, 2019 at 10:10 pm

The shield is the ultimate mediacenter, the competition doesn’t even compare (wich is a bad thing), the fact that you can play all these retro games is just the icing on the cake

  37. Leland Judsyn on September 25, 2019 at 10:11 pm

Sometimes I like building a retro collection. That way I have thousands of games I never play.

  38. Zartan Xxxtentacion on September 25, 2019 at 10:11 pm

  42. jay vila on September 25, 2019 at 10:16 pm

  43. Jacko* Moonwalker on September 25, 2019 at 10:18 pm

It seems cool and looks good, but I wanna know a few things:

    1. Does it have lag?
    2. Can I use it on a classic CRT?
    3. Do Retropie, Recalbox or Batocera work on it?
    4. Does it have the shaders option?
    5. Is it superior to the Odroid Xu4 in 3D games, like N64 and Dreamcast?

  44. SVTsupercharged Hi on September 25, 2019 at 10:18 pm

Can we get a link to those rom sites now?

  45. Logan Boyle on September 25, 2019 at 10:20 pm

Do I have to have internet to play this console?

  46. Jorge Rossetto on September 25, 2019 at 10:22 pm

The NES and SNES Classic uses emulation. There IS input lag.

  47. ELOHIM ECHERY on September 25, 2019 at 10:24 pm

‘Paquets lost ‘ network not working i have optic fiber

  48. william lewis on September 25, 2019 at 10:24 pm

Can this play classic arcade games like Capcom Street Fighter series or the Mortal Kombats etc?

  49. Nathan Breakin' on September 25, 2019 at 10:26 pm

I’ve done my research and purchased an Alienware Alpha with 1tb SSD. Out performs the Shield on emulation up to Wii U and doubles as a PC!

  50. diarykeeper on September 25, 2019 at 10:28 pm

Why waste money on this, when any "halfway modern" android phone does the same?
    (Because plug n play?)
