Couldn’t you just get H2O2 from a wholesale seller of chemicals? We used to use 100% in chemistry lab im school, and also in Biochemistry in 1st year of college. I need 100% acetone a while ago and the technicians got me a litre of it.
Hi thank you so much ! my Sega Dreamcast looks like it did back in 99′ I tried your technique but I used conditioner and regular hydrogen peroxide I mixed about half n half to the hair conditioner and kept mixing until it was almost runny but still sticky and ‘goopy’ smooth consistency like paint stripper. Apply with a paint brush. I lightly wrapped the parts in saran wrap and left them in the sun for several hours. Don’t worry if the cling wrap sticks to the surface, you should have a good thick coating it won’t effect it.. It removed 2 decades of uv yellowing! The controllers the case, everything looks fantastic ! My Sega was pretty yellowed, so i did 2 applications.
Thanks, my old Wii is faded on one side and this helpef
Can we do it without UV light?
Juan Amaro’ think people have got the message quit spamming the whole bloody page …….
An alle deutschen, Wella Welloxon gibt es ebenfalls in der Stärke 40 mit anscheinen 12% Hydrogen Peroxid.
Habe es aber nicht getestet.
I’m doing this to my Dreamcast.
Is the website https://retr0bright.wikispaces.com not working anymore? I am getting "We are sorry, but the site you are looking for no longer exists"
E só água oxigenada volume 40 e sol
does it works on motorcyle plastic dashboard that turned yellow??
In other words: "how to properly clean your plastic computer"
So can I use it in grey or will it remove any colors
This works as detailed in the video, well I used sunlight instead of a UV light. One thing I found though, any bubbles in the cellophane covering will leave very faint traces of the yellowing. I added a second coat of the Salon 40 and left it out in the sun uncovered for 10 minutes. It leveled out the treated pieces perfectly! Thanks for the great video! 👍🏻
Can you recomment a decent (read: cheap and works) UV light?
its like the beauty supply store just sees an old dude walk in for hydrogen peroxide
I got a Dell Quietkey from my school’s scrap electronics bin. It works perfectly. I’m cleaning it up now.
Did you already see this video by Odd Tinkering? There’s a nice retrobrighting method used, and it looks quite fast, too…

😮
Hi i used this method on my novation launchkeys 49 and they return pearl white, but in a month period they return to yellow again.
Any suggestions?. I used 40vol salon cream and layed them in the sun with nylon film for a day. I repeated the procedure several times but having same results
Sorry about that everyone I apologise about advertising my favorite YouTube channel I didn’t think I was offending anyone I’m truly sorry I thought this channel wasn’t active I don’t want to get my favorite channel in any trouble.
i just have a veryy small amount of yellowing right at the controller ports on my snes… will i need a uv light for that?
I got the tip to just put it into bright sun light for a few weeks. Haven’t tried that yet but sounds easy to do. 🙂
Say you have an action figure that has a white plastic body and you want to remove the yellow, if you cream up the body of course it’ll turn white, but if you leave the rest of the figure as it is will the other areas get damaged by the UV? is it best to use it on the entire figure or does hydrogen peroxide destroy paint?
What would be the UK equivelant of this creme ?
Wait a second you still have a radio shack in your area????
How do I prevent streaks????
Thanks !
"the sun changes angle throughout the day"… funny and retrograde point of view 🙂
This is neat
It’s nostalgic seeing a picture of a Radio Shack…because now they’ve been out of business and closed down for years.
I want to try some baking powder and the sun. Some keyboard can die in the name of science because the other computer parts got a black look recently. Maybe there is a sound frequency to test as well.
The first video I seen of the 8 bit Guy
I’m wondering what would happen if you put black keycaps into the hydrogen peroxide
Thank you for all that knowledge
why do you need a UV light? I managed to do this inside a tote ion a dark room.
What if i use 400w UV mercury vapour lamp instead of that black light tube…
30 volume Will work right?
YOLO….
So that black light is long wave UV light. It isn’t ionising or germicidal like sunlight. There are actually three sorts of UV light tubes you can get. Long wave or black light, primarily for inducing fluorescence, germicidal, which is primarily shortwave UV C, which is nasty and can cause damage to tissue and probably plastics, and tanning, which is UV A and B. I’m going to guess that the tanning one would be most effective, but obviously you’d need to experiment.
2019? Anyone?
Has anyone tried this with a G4 iMac screen bezel? Mine is very yellowed… not sure if it will still work on the clear plastic
don’t know if i commented this but i definitely wanna try this on my original game boy
why don’t work with new laptop and what is the reaction
Does it work with teeth too?
I can only find hydrogen peroxide which says 40 vol and 12%? Is that one I need?
"3% H2O2 just won’t cut it"
you retrobrited keys with that stuff and that turned out good.
Won’t the UV light bake the plastics and make them brittle?
Aqui no Brasil a água oxigenada volume 40 já é cremoso
3:33 Why would people put lotion on their hands when they’re behind a compu.. oh.. err, never mind.
you didn’t talk about the UV light what wattage and type? Thanks
