I’m using flourish for a project of my own. Can you share how you are adding images throughout the video? I can’t seem to figure that part out. Thank you.

I can’t believe Sega was still making sales off the genesis and megadrive in 2018

  10. OminoussMan on December 28, 2019 at 9:25 pm

After looking at this it makes sense why Nintendo made the switch, combining their success with their hand held devices and consoles.

  11. q7 on December 28, 2019 at 9:27 pm

Wow best one of these animated charts i’ve seen. subbed.

The Dreamcast sold until 2001-2002 reaching 10 million units.
The Saturn instead stopped selling in 1998, and stopped only at 9 Million units.

Awesome Data Viz. Did you post anywhere how did you produce the video (I mean, animation, not data)? Terrific!

  20. Tekno77 on December 28, 2019 at 9:47 pm

Why is this channel so underrated??

  21. DataGrapha on December 28, 2019 at 9:48 pm

Erratum: of course GameCube is by Nintendo and should be red in the graph 🙂
In this video I used a wide variety of data sources and some guesstimates and intrapolation to fill in missing data. I was surprised by the relatively low number of SNES sales, and found the story about SEGA systems still being sold in Brazil very interesting.
Please like & subscribe for similar stuff, and feel free to request topics you’d like to see graphed 🙂

  22. GreenDudeHC on December 28, 2019 at 9:48 pm

Cool but the data stops at 2018 unlike the title so we can’t see anything related to Switch.

  23. Mike Cronis on December 28, 2019 at 9:52 pm

Missing from 1977: Fairchild Channel F, Odyssey2/Videopac, Bally’s Astrocade. All of these each sold over 1 million. Odyssey2 sold 2 million in 3 years.

  24. pbelieve on December 28, 2019 at 9:53 pm

    Just excellent, thank you

  25. Graeme Breiner on December 28, 2019 at 9:53 pm

This is brilliant! Thanks for the hard work so interesting. I thought it was strange SNES and genesis declined at the same time

  26. Horizonshot on December 28, 2019 at 9:58 pm

Shoutout to the sega genesis for staying on the list from 1988 to 2019 GENESIS DOES

  27. Hugo Lencastre on December 28, 2019 at 9:58 pm

Xbox One is just Xbox One or the Xbox One S is also included in Xbox One?

  28. Fletcher The Pup on December 28, 2019 at 9:58 pm

    2:53 Nintendo Switch:
    I am speed.

  29. Lord_Kuku on December 28, 2019 at 10:04 pm

Nice graph, but unfortunately it is not correct the Xbox 360 did not sell no 83 million units is sold 78.1 million units and the PS3 sold 80 million units the only reason the Xbox 360 has sold 78.1 million units is because a lot of their day one systems burned up and got the red ring of death because Microsoft knowingly put a bad power supply in the system that way it would burn up causing the consumer to go buy another system otherwise it may only sold only about 40 million units. The Xbox 360s and the Xbox Ones where Microsoft’s biggest failures.

    Errata:
    – The data for TurboGrafX, which I took from Wikipedia, might be flawed: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:TurboGrafx-16#Units_sold
    – Gamecube is blue instead of red in the graph
