North Korea is afraid of Samsung cell phones

Olympians got free, special-edition Samsung Note8 cell phones. Nice perk. But North Korea banned their athletes from accepting the gift. Lou explains why cell phones are so scary to dictators.

so basically they wont let their Olympians have cell phones cause it would mean they could talk to people in other countries but at the same time Olympians go around the world all the time

I’m from South Korea and this is bunch of shit. Source code for Samsung anycall cellphones were made and kept in North Korea and it’s very obvious that you have never seen the TV advertisements for Samsung anycall phones featuring North Korean model and South Korean pop star. And Chinese telecommunication company ZTE was fined more than 1 billion$ by US government for providing 4G networks for North Korea. And all of the propaganda you hear out of North Korea just happen to be our own propaganda against them. There isn’t a single person in South Korea who still believe that North Korean submarine fired a torpedo on Cheonan ship. It’s officially announced by the defense minister of South Korea years ago. In US, so called North Korean experts on American TV news media are still regurgitating that same lie. And I am betting you still believe that North Korean unicorn story. Kirin(Japanese), Qilim(Chinese), Gilin(Korean) all are written exactly the same in Chinese characters and they all mean Giraffe. Only American news media can turn giraffe into unicorn. And not all kpop is banned in North Korea not just like all North Korean music is banned in South Korea😁(understandably because they’re all communist garbage). And according to the founder of Hyundai motor who visited North Korea(he was officially allowed to visit North Korea) said North Korean kids are very aware of outside world as well as their perception of North Korea. This is the reason why ZTE was fined more than a Billion$. We don’t want to hear earful from North Koreans online. We can’t afford to blow our propaganda exposed by allowing them to access internet.

  25. daniel joseph on January 1, 2020 at 9:43 pm

So them cell phones still up for grabs or…?

  26. Uma Chan on January 1, 2020 at 9:44 pm

But the tricked out phones wouldn’t be able to connect to the outside world anyway without a cell tower to connect to. When you get down to it, a $1000 phone that can connect to North Korean WiFi and only North Korean cell towers would still only have the same capabilities of a regular North Korean cell phone.

Here we have choices, we have tethering, we have the ability to actually travel outside of our cities and connect to different networks. None of that is available in North Korea. So really the only reason they have to not allow these is to show the rest of the population that technology from outside is not superior to North Korean ingenuity.
