Who will win the UK's Labour leadership contest?

In the UK, the contest to choose Jeremy Corbyn’s successor as leader of the Labour Party is expected to begin in January.
The scale of the challenge facing his replacement is huge, following an electoral defeat earlier this month.
It is not only winning seats that will be on the new leader’s mind, they also have to think about how to regain their supporters’ trust.

Al Jazeera’s Paul Brennan reports from Westminster in the UK.

I’m backing clive Lewis for next leader, he can get votes on the right being ex military and strong on national defense , the liberal center by backing proportional representation without losing left wing votes by sticking on the left of labour . He is very charismatic so I’m hoping that he can take control of the media off twats like Boris and mogg.

Let’s vote for the next biggest clown after Corbyn… Diane Abbott maybe or the Neanderthal that is David Lammy. Parliament needs its court jester now that Bercock has been fooked off

I think a good team would be Keir Stammer as Leader of the Labour Party, and Yvette Cooper as Deputy Leader. That would be a dream ticket.

We will continue to vote out terrorist sympathizers like Corbyn. Our vote, like Muslim votes, will be heavily influenced by our religion. As long as you target Israel’s right to exist, we will vote against you. May Allah bless and protect the great state of Israel!!

They’re all dross and it’s irrelevant anyway because momentum have killed off any chances of Labour winning.

A list of absolutely deluded, head-in-the-sand bigots who refuse to listen to the people, guaranteeing Labour’s place on the opposition benches for years and years. Marvellous news.

What a joke! None of them are qualified to lead the Labour Party. The UK is in good hands at the moment.

Keir Starmer is the one who can lead labour to be government in future . He is good "old labour" who is a socialist . He is a legal genius. And he has the demeanor and looks to attract tories and lib dems . people don’t want to admit it, but they do vote to a lesser or greater degree on handsome or beauty factors .

None of the ones being mentioned as potentials for sure. Labour party needs to accept the fact that corbynism is not acceptable to the people at this time of Brexit. Any potential Corbyn duplicate like Rebecca Long-Bailey will fail as a leader. We want Brexit done, hard or soft brexit not that important as getting it over with. When we see the future results and consequences of Brexit, we may consider another party. But not yet.
