How to use your TV as a computer monitor

In this video we show you how to use your TV as a computer screen.

You may need an adapter to get this to work with your HDMI compatible TV if your computer ONLY has a VGA input. Here are some links to some adapters.(these are affiliate links)

HDMI to VGA adapter: http://amzn.to/2BReCML
VGA to HDMI adapter: http://amzn.to/2GITRCa
DVI to HDMI adapter: http://amzn.to/2GJ7RM5
Display Port to HDMI adapter: http://amzn.to/2EV7jCu

What you will need to verify before hand is that you have the following items and inputs on your computer and TV.

From your computer verify whether you have an open HDMI, VGA, DVI, or Display Port inputs. Please see the links above for a better idea on what these will look like.

Make sure you have a spare cables that will reach to your TV. If you don’t please use the links above to purchase what is required.

i got a vintage PC ( with VGA , without HDMI ) , a basic 32”/81cm TV ( with 2x HDMI ) , a VGA-to-HDMI adapter and doesnt work . the TV’s HDMI worked on television decoder . the computer’s VGA also works on my monitor . i also tried the TV with my Dell PC ( that has both HDMI and VGA outputs ) and it doesnt work either . should i replace the TV with a monitor-TV or a monitor ?

The best video I’ve seen so far – thank you! I have unfortunately one problem, using Win7 the PC won’t recognise that there is a second monitor (my TV), so It is cloning, but I can’t change the resolution for the TV. I’m using a VGA splitter and cables – no HDMI unfortunately. Please can you help?

It’s VGA Inputs and HDMI Inputs not Imports. Conversely, it’s VGA Output and HDMI Outputs not Exports.

What are the directions for an old Mac Pro desktop? What if you don’t have sound coming out of your TV? How do you correct that?

  43. Corey F on March 24, 2020 at 2:59 pm

accept this does not work until you boot into as OS. the terminal will not mirror to the screen on start up which sucks because my laptop is damaged on the left side of the screen and I cant see the text. thought I could mirror to the tv as second screen but nope, does not work.
