Day in the Life of a Computer Science Student | UoG

This is what I’m doing when I’m not posting YouTube videos. For a change I decided to film what I do at school, and show you guys some actual problems that software developers have to solve.

There’s not much content on YouTube which actually shows real software dev, usually people just talk and don’t really explain what they’re doing. I want to take it upon myself to show what actually happens when writing software and if there’s enough interest I can make videos as I am programming some new personal projects. On those I can actually show you guys code, and do whatever I want.

What year / major / school?
– Second year computer science at university of guelph

What language?
– Almost everything for my assignments is written in C, I’ve had one Java course. Personally I know Java the most, then C, some web stuff for my website (HTML, CSS, Javascript, Bootstrap), as well as R for stats courses. Oh and assembly haha that was fun.

How old is u?
– 19

Where u at?
– Canada

Why did u quit ur gaming channel?
– I want to be productive and create cool shit. Been working on many interesting side projects that I usually keep separate from YouTube but thinking about making videos about them. Gaming videos feel like a dead end for me creatively.

When can you post another video?
– When I’m not a slave to the education system (if everyone sent me a nice sum of money I could start my own company and be set, in the meantime subscribe and follow all my social medias will help)

Can I see some code / what’s next??
– ye look at my github (link under socials)

You should be happy your college provide practical knowledge to you. Here in my college we are not taught how to do practical implementation. All we do is learn code.

I’m cs guy i want to learn programming but I listen booring maths chemistry electronics engineering lecturer as they my subjects fir semesters and busy with writing assignment record

  7. Konsti K. on November 16, 2019 at 6:29 pm

I started my first semester in Computer Sciences this year. Im not sure but my whole class thinks that teachers keep repeating themselves. For example we learn A in 4 subjects but get B, C, D, E for homework in this subjects. We have a subject called "Software Design" and in 3 months we only did theoretical stuff. No programming AT ALL. We do get a shitload to program at home now. Im currently trying to program a heron-square root programm in c. I´m already suffering. Is that normal ? 🙁

which university do you study in?

  12. thesoldier on November 16, 2019 at 6:32 pm

did you study discrete modeling? because it’s my first semester in germany as a cs student and we have discrete modeling but when i search on youtube videos about it, i get something different that what i learn, we learn basically discrete maths.

Wow man Im from Spain studying the same degree and wow, we have the same subjetcs with the same names (obviously in spanish)

  15. Bran Powell on November 16, 2019 at 6:37 pm

Sometimes it’s so hard for me to understand what are the capabilities of human beings. Some can procrastinate and do shit with their lifes, while others grind hard and still manage to do what they love.

I’m a science student from western, and I recently switched into applied math, and been doing some basic compsci stuff… glad YouTube randomly recommended your channel to me, you’ve gained a sub! I just know a bit of python, but love watching more complex video. Dope that you are studying in southwestern Ontario too

  32. ömer __ on November 16, 2019 at 6:54 pm

My dream is to be a computer engineer, but guess what .. There are no appointments for computer science graduates in Iraq. You are lucky, because you choose what you will be in the future, not as in Iraq, either as an oil engineer or to be a scavenger, I’m sad today, as every day, 18 years of reading and melting nights It is sad not to go to the branch you want, to live the life you want, to do the work that you love and creativity. ((((I am imprisoned in here)))) and As a sad young man who just realized that all the fatigue that he spent for his dream was in vain 😢

  33. KomboBoi on November 16, 2019 at 6:54 pm

I’m 13 and I love everything about computers. I’m interested in a job like a software developer but I’m wondering if its *actually* a good job not just paying but an enjoyable job

  34. Milena Sanchez on November 16, 2019 at 6:58 pm

i’m late but i’m actually motivated thanks a lot 🙂

  35. salima horan on November 16, 2019 at 6:58 pm

I like this video so much cus whenever i watch videos like this they make me feel bad because the courses they are learning in the videos of whatever look so much complicated than what i’m currently learning hhhhh 😂😂😂😂 but when i saw the “nand,or ,and “ and the shipset image i felt less bad about my self because I’ve already studied these things . I hope you the best with your academics and have a good day

  36. Kalanidhi on November 16, 2019 at 6:59 pm

any comp sci students from UMBC!?!

  41. Alex Pavelka on November 16, 2019 at 7:07 pm

You should make a video about the part your cut off (for different problems ). It’s interesting hearing you explain what you’re doing. I don’t think universities really care too much if you do that

  42. Disolve Nusya on November 16, 2019 at 7:08 pm

If you actually do the work, the majority of the time is still spent on Google with Stack OverFlow.

  46. James Kilpatrick on November 16, 2019 at 7:13 pm

Shit I was wondering where you went to school and now I see it’s Guelph, I’m from Toronto and I know lots of people who go to your school.

  47. R_y on November 16, 2019 at 7:17 pm

I study at computer science and engineering collage. I still didn’t specialize in any field, I’m still a freshman student but watching your videos got me more motivated and now I liked the collage even more. I hope to see you talk more about different computer science fields and computer engineering fields, that would help a lot of students.

  48. Phxy on November 16, 2019 at 7:18 pm

This is so cool and I’ve been wanting to get into programming and this is so cool
